National Western Stock Show!

Sunday we went to the stock show!!

The National Western Stock Show and Rodeo is hosted in Colorado annually - every year tons of cows and horses descend on Denver!

I just LOVE animals, and the stock show is typically pretty fun... for a day. After a day, I can wait another year for it to come back though. ;) I'm just not super into the country music, the western way of life, etc. - it's just not really my thing. I did however, have to get killer new boots for the show!

Let me share my boots with you, because I just love them! I've wanted to go to the stock show for several years but I refused to go because I didn't have cowboy boots. I can't even count the number of times that people have laughed at me when I tell them that. Why is that so amusing? What better reason to get a killer pair of boots than a special occasion? I've always wanted a pair of cowboy boots - not just for the stock show! They can be worn with so many things, and they're damn sexy. Not all of them... but this particular pair is definitely hot! When I went shopping for them I definitely felt a little... out of place in the Western store. I knew nothing about the sizes, and when I was looking for size 10 in women's the selection was slim, to say the least! I left, disappointed, but then went back that evening, to look at men's. In men's boots I found what I wanted!! Check out the picture - they're definitely badass! Mine are a little more brown than tan though... :)

I wanted to go to the stock show this year specifically for Kaden to see all of the animals - he had a blast! He was walking around, checking out the cows, and showing all of the cows his truck. He brought his farm truck that has sheep in the back of it for the occasion! I just HAD to buy him a hat when we got there - and he was so proud of that hat. As we walked around, several people stopped Kaden to tell him what a killer hat he had! Kaden even showed it off to a little girl as they were petting the horses... he woos the girlies everywhere we go - it's amazing!

While he was checking out the cows and picking up chicks, I was checking out the people. It's a neat place to people watch - there are so many different people there! So many different ages and faces, and so many different clothing styles... and so many belt buckles!

What is with the belt buckles? I understand that a lot of them are for winning contests and such - but where the heck did the tradition of huge belt buckles come from? I know the jokes... baaaad jokes by the way. The buckles are huge! Some of them are beautiful, but why wear such ornate things on your belt? Aren't belts made to hold your pants up? Doesn't the excess weight of a huge buckle weigh your pants down even more? Doesn't that defeat the point of a belt?!

And the music... I enjoy some country music. Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Shania Twain - some of the more mainstream, poppy country artists, but I enjoy them. Especially the sappy songs, like Garth Brooks' "The Dance." I just LOVE the piano intro to that song. However... after 3 hours of country music everywhere, Guns N' Roses was a welcome break when one of the competitors came out! During an intermission I just about died when they played "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy."

Tractors are not sexy, they're just not. Machines, in general, are not sexy. I'm not even into hot cars - I'm more interested in the person behind the wheel than the car itself! ;) I suppose that everyone has something they think is hot - but machines are definitely not a turnon for me. I'm more of a uniform or tuxedo kind of girl. There is just something about a man cleaned up in a tux... YUM! Accents are another bonus - so many different kinds! At the stock show there were plenty of those as well. One guy in particular held a door open for me, and when I said thank you he said "Mah pleasure!" *swoon*

Okay I've rambled on long enough... Can you tell this post was written after drinking a triple shot Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte? (Oh... My... GOSH I'm so glad they're back - that is my all time favorite Starbucks drink ever!!)
