The TRUE Cost of the 12 Days of Christmas!

This cracks me up!!

Original article found here:

There are a few things that are funny about this article.

1. Someone at PNC Wealth Management has WAY too much time on their hands.

2. The nine ladies dancing was the most expensive item on the list. This leads me to wonder - what kind of ladies dancing are they? How much does a lady dancing really cost - $528.80 each according to this study. How long are they dancing for to make this wage? What types of dancing? Are we talking ballet here, or lap dances? I would imagine certain types of dancers make a lot more!

3. The second most expensive item on the list is seven swans a-swimming. Where do you buy a swan? What if you buy a swan and he doesn't swim, do you get a refund? Is he really worth $600 if he doesn't swim? Is he really worth $600 if he DOES swim? Why does a swan cost more than a lady dancing?

4. What the heck is a lord-a-leaping? They're $416.03 each, so they're obviously not in demand like the ladies dancing. All I can think of is the movie, Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Why, I don't know... maybe because of a guy jumping on his toes, a lord-a-leaping! (Okay maybe not a lord, but where else can you find men jumping around in tights?)

I'm sure there is a perfectly good explanation for all of the phrases in the song, and I'm not going to take the time to look it up. I just thought it was rather interesting that someone would take the time to figure out what each of these items costs! Not only do they figure out what each item costs, they look at the rise/fall of the cost from the previous year.

So if someone wanted to get me all of the items on the list, it would cost them $18,920.59. Think of all of the things you could buy with that money! That would be a damn nice piece of jewelry. Or a down payment on a house! OR a nice car! How about a fabulous vacation? What the heck would I want with some leaping lords?! Dear True Love, spend the money on something fabulous instead!! ;)
