My birthday is coming up, yet again. It's not something we can avoid, for sure! I usually love my birthdays, although in the past few years I have grown to dread them. In my family, holidays are a huge deal - birthdays, Christmas, Halloween, etc. I've always had the mindset that birthdays are someone's special day, a day to make a big deal about THEM. A day to celebrate, party and have just a ton of fun!
It seems that my birthdays have been downers for the past 5 or so years, so this year I decided to buy myself a birthday present. I know that this present isn't necessarily going to make me feel better about my birthday and the circumstances this year, but at least I will be enjoying some fabulous chocolate!!
Typically I'm not a chocolates kind of girl. I would much prefer something that shows a lot of thought. A gift that shows that the giver was thinking about me, and about what I'd like to have. It doesn't have to be extravagant, just something that shows a lot of thought and effort. I suppose though, that because of my preference of chocolates, a custom mix definitely shows some effort! ;)
My favorite chocolates come from See's Candies. http://www.sees.com/
I had some chocolates at Easter time this year, and I was very careful to look at which one I was enjoying so that I would know what to get should I ever get chocolates in the future! I like nuts in chocolates, really I do, but if I'm going to have these delicious FINE chocolates, I prefer smooth. I like to take a bite and really let it melt on my tongue so that I can taste every flavor!
So where is this all going you ask? I thought I would post my favorite mix here, with why I love them! (Hey give me a break - I have nothing else to say right now. I'm sick and can't smell or taste anything - which is particularly painful because Krystal and I got truffles and they were calling to me from their bag! I don't want to eat them because I can't taste them though. That would be pointless calories!!) Another bonus - then come December 8th, I can print out this post and take it to See's. We're fortunate enough to have a store here, although I suppose I could save myself the trouble and order it online. The store is fun though, especially with Kaden!
So here it is, my favorite chocolate mix from See's, ranked in order of preference. I also included a description for easy identification!

- Milk Chocolate Butter - Milk chocolate and butter, need I say more? (round with ripples on top)
- Butterscotch Square - This thing is just amazing. Simply amazing. It has this coarse center, with almost a grainy feel, but it's a good grainy feel not bad. It's like spun brown sugar in the middle covered in milk chocolate - YUM! (rectangular with ripples on top)
- Milk & Dark Chocolate Bordeaux - These have a brown sugar creamy center! (round with sprinkles on top)
- Dark Chocolate Butter - Same thing with dark chocolate (round with ripples on top)
- Milk & Dark Buttercream - Good, although more of a vanilla center instead of chocolate (round with no ripples)
- Raspberry Cream - Dark chocolate with raspberry buttercream in the middle (shorter and round with ripples)
- Raspberry Truffle - Speaks for itself! (round with white lines)
- Mocha - Milk chocolate with coffee flavored creamy centers! (rectangular with sprinkles)
- Key Lime Truffle - Not a fave but a good mix, has a definite sour taste to it (white chocolate, rectangular)
Again, information that I bet no one really cares about, but come my birthday time maybe it will be nice and easy for me to print off and go to the store to get!
Happy Birthday to me... :) (Almost!!!)
